Q&A With Travelers Employees

Asked to all employees at Travelers

  • Pre-pandemic, we would have a summer picnic, a fall offsite outing, and a holiday party. The picnic every year would include an Olympics-style competition with different events. We've been apple picking and gone to corn mazes, as well as attending baseball games, laser tag, and bowling. Some barbecues at parks as well. Not sure if that will happen again even after the return to the office.

  • They don’t exist. Travelers is very stingy. No holiday parties either.

  • They are few and far between. No holiday parties because Travelers is too cheap.

Asked to the Sales Department at Travelers

  • The best they can with what they have to work with. Travelers is not a sales organization nor do they understand what a sales team needs to be motivated.

  • Travelers is an underwriting oriented company, not a sales-oriented company. I've heard it said many times that product views the sales department as an unnecessary expense.

Asked to the Sales Department at Travelers

  • What you would expect, from a sales team run by underwriters. There is a lot of frustration around not being understood/correctly compensated.

  • Travelers DOES NOT have a sales culture. They do not understand what it takes to build a good sales team as most the people they hire are not true sales people. They talk a lot about hiring the best people but settle for average at best. Bonuses are not given out based on your territory's production or your ranking in the region and country. Instead, bonuses are awarded to whom management likes best. If your a sales person looking to join a company with a strong sales background, just keep looking because you will never find it at Travelers.

  • Low. 80% of my coworkers on my team are looking for a new job.

  • It all depends on who you talk with. Management always act like things are great, but most employees that have been there more than a couple of years feel like they are going no where. There is no clear path on how to move up within the company. Most employees feel they are over worked and way under paid.
