How employees describe working at Walgreens
Some of the private label brand products we offer really need to be improved upon. Especially, private label food items.
Review from Marketing Dept
It is a Good Company. Mostly Fair. I would like to see management working with the Digital Scheduling system to better schedule as it is not his strong point. Have a good system it just needs to be better utilized. My manager really should delegate scheduling to his Assistant Manager who's suposd to

It would be ok I would say. Wish they would stop making us stay open on the holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving. Would be good if nobody shopped on Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Review from Sales Dept
Raises based on moving to busier stores
Review from Operations Dept
It’s not that great. They push you through training very quickly, which is just a bunch of videos and assessments and throw you into whatever job you’re doing. The little help they do offer is telling you that’s the best way to do it, j

If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Walgreens?
Top Employee Response
If we see someone stealing, we shouldnt have to just turn the other cheek and pretend it didnt happen just because they were out of our sight a moment.
Listen to employees more, focus less on "service related numbers" such as how fast an ex is done or how fast a phone is answered . Allow pharmacist to focus on patient care, accuracy and safety instead of applying pressure on speed.
Eliminate some of the ineffective upper levels of management.
What benefits does Walgreens provide?
Health benefits. Employee discounts.
Good ones as medical insurance
Insurance salary 401k opportunity for Advancement
What are your coworkers at Walgreens like?
Most are great. Some allow competition to overtake the hood of the company/team so they can look better. Upper mgt (Area & regional leadership) care only about numbers and rarely care about work life balance or team member engagement or opinions.
Some fun. Some annoying.
Hard workers and great teammates
How innovative is Walgreens?
somewhat, they are often late or take the advice submitted with a grain of salt. IT & engineers are hit or miss on implementations.
Not very. Still doing way too much by hand that is time consuming and then being expected to get done all the new practices they put in place
Among the best in the industry. They do a great job listening to their customers, and maintaining a competitive edge with technology and services. Walgreens and Boots Alliance have been innovators for over a century.
How can I improve my chances of being hired at Walgreens?
Persistence, and don't sell yourself short. Wages are getting less for the higher Store positions vs ~2014, its a dog eat dog world.
It’s not that difficult. Be honest. Direct. Ask questions?
Do your best
If you could change anything about your job, what would it be?
Family atmosphere and culture of the company has diminished since being taken over by Boots.
Pay increase
I wish I had a little more time for myself

What is the dress code at Walgreens?
Yes, often times changes every 2 or so years. Isn't always improvements either. Only get two (2) work shirts /uniforms a year, rest is on the employee. Uniform costs (as of 2021) ~$10-20 depending on size and style/position.
Depending on position... Black or khaki pants. Walgreens polo shirt or for leads polo or button down shirt as you will have a vest. Black shoes.
Is conservative. But not deployed at all stores equally

How's the leadership on the Customer Support team at Walgreens?
Managers are not on the same page when it comes to handling policies. One manager will say something then another will say something different. Being at the front, i get yelled at for that inconsistency. Some become condonsending with their approach.
As with all places, leadership can always be improved. Especially in communication.
Like anywhere else. Leaders are only as good as the policies they have to follow.
What is Walgreens' policy towards pets in the workplace?
Each one has its own but ours normally does not allow pets
Each store varies but as a rule no pets just service animals allowed
They are pet friendly. Customers bring their pets all the time. And when there was a major fire in our area, I was allowed to keep my cat in the office during my shift (which was overnights at the time).
How's the work life balance at Walgreens?
Terrible. Your hours and days change constantly. It’s like you have to spend all your free time figuring out and making plans for what you want to do so you can turn in requests and then youre not guaranteed to get the days off. This is my most hated part of working at Walgreens
No weekends free, no rotation fo pharmacists to get 2 days off consequently at least once a month
Non existent. If you are salary, you are expected to answer calls, texts, emails on time off.. including vacations.
What are the most important soft skills I need to be successful at Walgreens?
Technology
Time management for sure. Walgreens expects a lot of work in a very short shift. Then interaction skills as you will be overwhelmed with work and still need to be courteous and helpful to customers and coworkers.
Active listening skills and an ability to communicate with all levels of audience. Be able to accept and give consistent, beneficial feedback.
