How employees describe working at Verizon

Working for a consulting firm for the company I was a former employee made the transition easy.

A constant state of flux and no set direction other than growth. The constant fear that at any moment I could be let go.

Treat us fair and provide good benefits.

Very clear bonus bumps at various levels so it's easy to see what you could be making after promotions etc.

The work is somewhat challenging and the days are long but the compensation is good so I believe it is a fair job.

  • Work/life balance 3 weekends on and one off compensated with time and a half on Sundays is a poor trade. Also, scheduling by seniority sticks newer employees to evenings (or overnight) shifts as opposed to the desired 8-5 in perpituity until they hire new classes and senior members retire--a situation that can take years to decades!!!

  • Stressed to meet often unobtainable metrics. Little to no training offered on new equipment or processes cause learning on the fly or coming in early to learn on your own time.
