What's the Customer Support team like at Verizon?
Very family-like and inter-supportive. Unionized and having survived a number of actions against the Company including strikes, the employees often support each other and help each other before reaching out to management. They honestly care about each and every one of the customers that they serve as well!
There are favorites that get preferential treatment and then the rest of us.
Verizon prides itself on providing top notch customer service and that begins with happy employees. Team contests, challenges, rewards for meeting standards and overtime are just a few perks on top of employee benefits. Verizon invests a lot into it's employees and gives room for advancement.
What's the pay like for Customer Support roles at Verizon?
Usually starts at ~$500 per week, then after 3 years you max at ~ $1300. Sundays are time and a half. Most departments are mandatory weekends; tech support in particular is grueling at 3 on 1 off!!!
Excellent
Verizon takes care of their employees and gives yearly raises and bonuses.
What's the interview process like at Verizon?
Intense
Intense. Phone interview. Person to person. Finding who's best, who's going to make it. It's not easy.
Strict but fair
What are you most excited about working at Verizon?
The management is supportive, pay is great, hours flexible and I love working with business customers. I work 12 hour days sometime, but I can also be off for my son's Christmas party or at home working in my office when he is sick. It's all what you put into it. We don't just sell phones or tablets, we sell solutions. It's an exciting time to be working for Verizon!
They build really good quality networks. you can take pride in your work.
Paycheck
What's the Design team like at Verizon?

What's the pay like for IT roles at Verizon?
Pay and total compensation is extremely competitive at Verizon IT.
The compensation package, including base pay, benefits and bonuses is extremely competitive.
The pay for Verizon is extremely competitive. There's a competitive base pay, bonuses, 401k and healthcare. I've been employed for 25+ years.
What's the vibe like in the IT dept at Verizon? How many hours are you working?
The vibe is good because we hire professional individuals. I typically work anywhere from 40-50 hours per week
The vibe and overall morale within the IT departments is poor. There have been layoffs (i.e. reduction in force or RIFs) every year for the past 5 years. There is talk about the company selling the bulk of the IT support teams to a third party for some time. The uncertainty demoralizing and consumes a lot of "water cooler gossip" time.
I rarely work more than 40-45 hours/week
What's the vibe like in the Customer Support dept at Verizon? How many hours are you working?
Everyone is tired and frustrated. Mandatory overtime is in effect every week, adding several hours to each day with no additional breaks or considerations
8-10 with voluntary overtime potential. You can have no more than 12 hours scheduled in a 24 hour period.
Positive 40 and more at times
What's the office vibe like at Verizon?
Nobody talks much - unless they have to- very introverted. Almost autistic.
Office vibe is relaxed
Amazing.
What's the dress code for someone working in software engineering?
When I joined 6 years ago, things very formal with everyone around in business traditional attire. Over the years with the infusion of cultures from multiple startups and a younger workforce in general, Verizon has gone the “You Do You” approach. Of course customer facing roles still practice formal attire but engineering roles across the board have moved to a casual expressive attire. In some locations that even means getting to see some really well done ink work and hairdos. It’s transformed for the better in my opinion.

What are the most important soft skills to be successful at Verizon?
Selling asking the the right question to be able to sell more that will benefit both party’s
Having a thick skin
Empathy, emotional control, and logic.
How are the dental insurance options at Verizon?
Fantastic. Broad coverage, low cost.
MetLife HMO and PPO
Horrible. Outdated and ineffective. I’d pay more for better coverage.
What are company outings like at Verizon?
Non-existent. Often in-office events.
Back in the NYNEX days, company staff outings and family picnics were common. Since it merged with others and became Verizon, such bonding activities never happen. Today's leaders are all about max output and saving money. Pretty dreary, actually.
Never been on one
How are layoffs handled in the Sales department at Verizon?
Verizon is shedding employees very aggressively and no one is safe at the company. If you plan on working at Verizon, do not count on job stability. They will saw everything is fine until HR taps you on the shoulder one day and performance does not matter either. On a positive note, they do offer a very generous severance package.
I have been there for years really no layoffs at my store there have been a few positions that were depleted from Verizon and there were a few sales positions or Mall locations which we call a c-level store on that closed due to no traffic everything was harsh on till the employees were informed
Verizon is a corporation they tell you everything is alright but they have other agendas that they do not share. Everyone is just a number at the end of the day it's all about showing profits for share holders. Verizon will keep losing ground till they become leaders again and stop following T-Mobile. Verizon has been second since Ledger took over and it's a matter of time before that annoying little guy becomes a threat once merger goes through. All employees dont trust Verizon and they know it's a matter of time before more layoffs come around. They just sent out an email to everyone asking for volunteers to resign and give them nice severance packages. Just shows company is not as sound as they say.

What's the pay like for Sales roles at Verizon?
