What part of Aetna's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
HMO
The Public & Labor segment has been growing fairly quickly for the past 2 years. National Accounts has stalled. ACO business continues to expand and grow.
Slow growth throughout company.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at Aetna?
Get rid of the layer upon layer of management. Lower the CEO's salary.
Leadership is very removed from the line level worker and doesn't have a reality check on how things are really working. They do annual employee surveys but very little actually changes.
Slim down the middle-management sector. There are many people who are collecting a paycheck simply for existing (and provide little to no value)
Does Aetna drug test or do a background check?
Background Check, possibly check employment references for past employers, 1 personal reference, No drug test if working from home.
When I was hired in 2000 it was very minimal. They checked my resume and work ethic. Now that we are in 2019 it is more extensive, and yes they do do a background check.
How's the work life balance at Aetna?
9-5. The rest of the time is yours.
Stressful, no room for growth and favoritism is a plus at thiscompany.
What are your coworkers at Aetna like?
My coworkers are all very supportive of each other. They are very quick to answer your questions and jump in to cover an appointment if needed.

What do people at Aetna think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
The CEO jets in once a year. There is a town hall meeting saying how well the company is doing. Other than that there is no contact. He makes millions while we barely are paid a living wage. As for raises, 3% is the highest anyone gets. I work for the insurance.

As a regular employee you won't be involved in any outreach. Those projects are just for the higher ups.

A week.
How hard is it to get promoted at Aetna?
Very very hard. Mostly all.moves are lateral, you can go from member services to provider services but not a promotion. Very limited ability to move up. That is why just about everyone leaves. Same job year after year.

I heard within a week.
What is the best perk or benefit that Aetna offers?
Generous severance And doubler severance if job is eliminated before 11/1/2019. Otherwise most benefits are being eliminated or greatly reduced because of CVS acquisition.

Horrible, very micromanaging.

While they talk a lot about culture, having spent more than 15 years at Aetna, there really isn't a company culture. There are different cultures across the various regions and markets, depending on the leadership in those areas.
