To be a candidate for promotions one is required to have a formal talk with his/her manager, or a higher level. Must write a "letter of interest" to be forwarded to district HR and district manager. There is a written test to take to qualify. Who gets promoted after these initial steps is determined by years of experience (no minimum required), level of education (college degree or proof of working to attain a degree), and an internal need to fill a position. At this point there will be interviews with various operation/staff managers. If all is satisfactory the candidate will be entered into a "pool" with all other eligible candidates. Promotion will be determined by "most qualified" for given opening. This process must be done yearly if candidate is not chosen.
They usually promote within the company. Employees interested in becoming a supervisor would take a supervisor test and they also look at things like attendance. At first they become a part time supervisor which is a terrible job, at my facility they have a hard time getting people to take that job (they are not payed that well) . Once a supervisor people get further promoted based on production and other factors help such as tenure. I have seen people promoted quickly when they are related to other managers.
If you want to be a driver, you have to sign a bid list. If you want to be in management, you have to submit a letter to the company of your wish to do so and why you would benefit the company in a management position. The company will not come to you to be promoted. You must apply.
Good ole' Boy network. All in who you know. They will say decisions are based on experience and education but if someone want you to be promoted regardless of experience or education you will be promoted.
They're looking for outside blood and filling very senior-level positions with less qualified candidates than existing staff, and if you check one of their diversity boxes, you're more likely to be hired.
Promote from with in and habe minimal experience with what the job is and expects them to train the next group.
Most of the time it is through effective networking or developing something in your current position to improve the process.
they will take anyone willing to go supervisor , because they are a dime a dozen
