Our company's history began more than six decades ago with the idea of principal founder John Amos and his brothers, Paul and Bill Amos, who saw a need for financial protection when a medical situation occurs. It was the spring of 1995 when a mother of a child with cancer approached Aflac asking for a $25,000 donation to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to help update the floor where children were being treated for cancer. To her surprise and delight, Aflac Chief Executive Officer, Dan Amos, responded by offering $3 million while renaming the unit as The Aflac Cancer Center. Since then, Aflac and the company’s generous sales associates have embraced this cause, raising more than $122+ million to date to support children with cancer across the nation by investing in programs, treatment, and pediatric cancer research.
