I've been here a while and have had the opportunity to change rolls when I felt the desire to do so. People leaders are encouraged and held accountable to have career development conversations with their teams. Sometime the best advice is to pursue a job in another group or department.
What makes you most happy at work?
Getting a chance to spend time with our customers. They are very connected to their local communities, not just connected to their jobs. Calix and our customers share the same goals and purpose. Oh, and I love surveys :-)
What do you like best about the leadership team?
The leadership team believes in the purpose of the company... helping broadband services providers help communities cross the digital divide and achieve communication services that rival the best in the world. There is no artificial commitment to the story line for the sake of motivating employees.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The long-time employees really make great efforts to bridge new employees into the work from anywhere company. They all know how hard it can be to meet new people in a virtual workplace, so take extra effort to meet new employees and those new to the company.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
The "the buy one get one free" employee stock plan. Calix is putting its money where its rhetoric is and helping all employees become long term investors in the company. The bonus plan for all non-Sales employees is also amazing. We are a work from anywhere company, but feel well connected.
What are some of the best things about your team?
We are a small team of experienced professionals that have seen a lot of good and bad in they way work-life balance is managed. We are ready to take some body blows (boxing metaphor) to get a project done in the short term, but also step back to recharge for the long term.
