Got hurt on the job, managers don't care what Drs restrictions are & make you do the worst possible tasks that end up permanently injuring you and then you have the gall to not take care of them and make them go thru years of legal maneuvering in an effort to make them give up on your empty promises
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
I come from a much high working level and usually work for huge companies but I've never seen such a disfunction trainwreck, truly blows my mind. Seriously, I have no idea how it actually is able to function.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Everything's wrong, that's the problem. If you want to fix the issues and make the stores truly worthy to both customers and employees you need to gut the company & bring in management who care & not 1/2 brain dead idiots, pay better (comp pays about $2 an hr more) AND TAKE CARE OF INJURED EMPLOYEES
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Too much. In my case, I got injured on job 3.5 yrs ago. Was a minor injury until the managers refused to follow Dr's orders & the injury became permanent. Your insurance company hasn't paid me a dime after 3.5 yrs, you promised me I'd be taken care of, even with crt ordered medical I can't get a dr.
