  • Diversity is embraced at an institutional level. Diversity is written into Lockheed policy. That said, it's still mostly male engineers who don't want to go home.

  • Diversity is widespread you have a smelting pot of people from all over this country in there where the goal of one thing producing the goal of one thing producing aircraft

  • It happened that my team were all men except one. They were white and black. Blacks were never been disadvantaged. There were many women at high managements.

Asked to all employees at Lockheed Martin

  • It's all about being in the right place at the right time. If you work hard, get great work done, and are always on the lookout for ways to improve your work and support your team, you will be taken advantage of every minute of every day. No one takes care of you in this organization except for yourself. They value new hires more than employees with three years of experience. It's more valuable to leave the company every 2 years than it is to stay and try to be promoted. Basically, Lockheed is riding the high of the reputation they have from engineering performed over 50 years ago. Today, Lockheed lures in young engineers with this history, only for them to learn, that culture and mindset is not only discouraged but dead. Do yourself a favor and just stay away. On the bright side you are immediately fully vested in your 401k.

  • There is a lot of opportunities to grow.

  • There many LDP (Leadership Development Programs) opportunities as well as more informal opportunities. You can post for any job inside the company and managers are usually great about letting you try new things.

  • Lockheed is a good opportunity for junior and mid-level engineers. Lockheed has never been a great place for Senior Engineers.

Asked to all employees at Lockheed Martin

  • The easiest way to get promoted is to bid on openings on other projects. Current project members will wait about twice as long to be promoted as people who are willing to move around. Also, unless you're lucky your program will only last from 3 to 7 years so you may end up interviewing internally more frequently than you thought. If you fail to find a position (nearly on your own) than you'll be laidoff. That process now takes 2 weeks.

  • This was the company that you could achieve all I wanted with them.

Asked to the Engineering Department at Lockheed Martin

  • There are two different types of leaders at Lockheed Martin. Your direct leader will help you but won't be able to deviate from their playbook. Most engineers will never interact with leaders above your current program manager, e.g. Directors and above. They are the 1% you'll never see.

  • Lockheed was trying to reduce the layers as much they could. However, I had two managers and a leader. I guess it could be less complicated.

Asked to all employees at Lockheed Martin

  • Inclusion is encouraged, and done by top managers.

  • The culture varies drastically depending on the project to which you are assigned. The "Engineering Dept" is little more than a body shop assigning people to projects. As such, the projects develop most of the company culture.
