The DC does a background, drug test, and you have to go for a physical before you start. I'm not sure about the retail side of it though

Not so much anymore. Lately bringing untrained help in from outside company. Stores falling apart.
As often as they demote and fire team leaders. Often. They often hire off streets as of lately too.
