Q&A With Michael Kors Employees
IDX: 25 TOT: 42
What's the vibe like in the Marketing dept at Michael Kors? How many hours are you working?
People run the gamut of out the door at 6 on the dot, to staying past 8 every night, it all depends on the individual. The vibe is not warm. It's very cold, divided, and sometimes hostile. The overall culture at MK is intense, fast-paced, overly political, and cliquy. If you don't have a personal squad in or out of your immediate team you will feel isolated.
What's the Marketing team like at Michael Kors?
Siloed and not as collaborative as it should be.
How's the leadership on the Marketing team at Michael Kors?
Indecisive and not very strong.
How long do the interviews usually take at Michael Kors?
30-45 mins.
How do I do well in an interview at Michael Kors?
Over-prepare. Come with examples of past accomplishments and parallel them with the job you are interviewing for. Ask questions that show you've done research on the company, and ask questions that are related specifically to the job you are interviewing for. Stay away from questions about, what's my growth track here and what's the company culture like, because those answers will unfortunately be negative and may make the interviewer uncomfortable.
How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at Michael Kors?
Extensive (6 people), but positive. I really wanted the job and over-prepared, so I asked a ton of questions about the overall company objectives down to the individual objectives of the job, smiled a lot, and told a lot of examples of previous experiences at prior jobs and related them back to the tasks/aspects of the job I was interviewing for.
What was the most difficult question that was asked during your interview at Michael Kors?
When you had a conflict with an external partner, how did you handle it?
Who did you meet with during your interview? And how long did it take to hear back from Michael Kors?
The process was surprisingly quick- 6 weeks from first HR call to offer. That's lightning speed in my experience.
What questions do they ask during the interview process at Michael Kors?
They want to know all about your professional experience but also who you are and what you're interested in. Your cultural fit is considered just as important as your professional fit. Confidence is key. If you don't hit it off personally with the majority of your interviewers, you won't get hired. If you are too nervous and don't seem "normal," you have no shot. Best to ask a lot of intelligent and specific questions, they are well-received.
How would you compare interviewing at Michael Kors to other places you've interviewed?
It was extensive (3 rounds, 6 people), but I wasn't given a task or presentation to complete, which I really appreciated (I don't think it's fair for prospective employers to ask you to do work for them if they are not paying you). But that's not the case with all divisions at MK, I heard of some who did have to complete a project unfortunately.
What should I wear for an interview at Michael Kors?
No suits! Flattering professional structured knee-length dress with sleeves is best. If wearing a neutral color dress, add a pop of color with a bold lip, or a bright necklace to show you have a personality, an appreciation for fashion, and pay attention to detail.
What do employees at Michael Kors think about their benefits?
58% of Michael Kors employees say they are satisfied with their benefits. The majority of employees also get 0-10 days of paid vacation, and most of the employees believe the cash value of their benefits is $500 -$1000/mo.
How's career growth and advancement at Michael Kors?
0% of the same employees also feel like Michael Kors is invested in their career growth. On average, majority of employees do not have a mentor to help them navigate their career at Michael Kors.
