The appreciation that teammates have for one another is consistently very high

My team is a group of bright, curious people with a lot of tenure at the company and a vested interest in making the product better.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
When it's a difficult period at the company (now being a good example), being honest about the difficult of the situation and not sugar-coating issues. Particularly with regard to employee attrition, there's a sense of ignoring a problem that borders on deliberate.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I explicitly know what my same-leveled coworkers make; I make 12% less. I addressed this with my manager and HR and, in spite of an acknowledgment that I was making a below-market salary, was informed my salary would not change. Having my work at the company respected via a fair salary would help.
