Now that I'm in the managing org, watching my team grow more confident in their skills and proposing and executing great ideas that I never thought of. It makes me both happy and proud.
We are very collaborative and resourceful. The folks can do very meaningful work sometimes with scarce resources and very difficult deadlines. My direct management is very clear and supportive, and keeps a great working environment.
My team works with hardware daily so we cannot work from home (contractually). Other teams can, and there is no positive monetary discrimination for having to work fully local, and not having the perk of hybrid work.
My direct manager is very caring about the team's progression and to make sure people who contribute more are properly valued and rewarded. However, some of the decision making regarding progression is made/approved many levels above. Not all sites/teams are treated equally if they are less visible.
