I enjoy working for Trivago. The short-term goals are clear, and teams collaborate to get us there. However, there is always a sense that the company and its senior leadership don't know where we are going and that the company will cease to exist at some point.

Toxic environment, top-down approach, gender bias and low salary. Avoid like a plague

Lots of learnings each day. There is a high level of autonomy and trust given early on in one's career. A great place to start!

I work in the recruiting team at trivago for more than 4 years. I have covered different vacancies from tech to non tech roles and worked on several projects to improve our processes and workflow. Team work is highly valued and you are empowered in driving very strategic project since day 1.

My favorite job that I every had

I appreciate that they are accessible and will make time for people. I also like that most of them treat employees as equals when engaging in exchanges, even when we do not agree.

The flat heirarchy and open discussions

Young, fresh, diverse, always open to hear talents thoughts, ideas and suggestions on where to improve. Very flat hirarchies and very approachable.

Everyone is very understanding about how people may feel with issues that occur

Approachable, direct, believes in employees, willing to invest in employees.

I like the unlimited PTO, although the policy is not implemented the same across teams. Some teams are asked to justify if they want to take more than 25 days off. I also appreciate the generous learning budget.

It is very much below the market average

Most of them are collaborative and go above and beyond. A handful are not as competent/collaborative, but it is not surprising as many people stay very long in this company and perhaps they need to upskill themselves / the company needs to take a harder look and not always just reward loyalty.

I enjoyed the case study and the live interview to go through the case study. It mimicked what it could be like actually working with the team, so that was great.

Trivago stopped investing in innovation - we used to be a market leader commercially and technologically. Now we've lost the competitive advantage and it's hard to get it back.
