Vail Resorts Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Access to mountains for skiing

fairly new, but so far they have good health care and time off/ such as pto or sick benefits. Not really sure about the rest.

Review from Operations Dept

Free ski passes for me & my family, half-off kids lessons, free lessons for me. Mental health support.

The fact that they contribute to my 401k

Stock grants as part of comp. Good health benefits.

40% discount at all the stores partnered with vail. (Columbia, North Face, Patagonia, etc.)

That you can get access to it as a seasonal worker

free ski lessons and meal discounts

Review from Customer Support Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Getting real world wages for the job we do don't don't take me wrong cause. I love working here and being in this environment. It would just be nice to make competitive wages yes in the real world

Review from Operations Dept

Realistic pay for what is asked

Review from Operations Dept

Company claims we get all the benefits,. However, getting access or using them is impossible.

Review from Operations Dept

Low salary, no respect for employees, no break rooms, no place to sit, no coffee or drink machine, I'm treated like an animal. Never seen that, must be reported to the Nal Park!

Review from Operations Dept

18 seasons in a snow cat. People with half my experience get paid the same or more

Salaried employees are expected to work 50+ hours per week. There is no incentive or benefits to work long hours.

It is public knowledge how many passes Vail Resorts sells and the cost of each pass is exorbitant. They cannot offer quality service, and I don't like working for a company who treats their customers so disrepectfully.

Review from Customer Support Dept

Living in a mountain town is expensive. The hourly wage does not compare to the cost of living. 16 to $18 an hour for very physically challenging but fun work, and then paying $1,000 a month in employee housing right back to the employer, or paying $2,000 in rent in town is not sustainable.

Pay people starting at $20/hour

I'm making 40% less than market rate.

I should be paid more or have stock options or some way to gain more wealth in an incredibly ridiculous housing market

Stop nickel and dimming us

The work is HARD and its expensive to live in Tahoe so the pay should reflect that.

The ski areas are in some of the most expensive areas in the country. Costs of housing and basic necessities are through the roof and Vail needs to update their wage system in order to hire and retain better staff. Underpayment is direct cause of high turnover.

Leadership at Vail resorts is all about reinforcing toxic leadership beliefs of your immediate boss. Leaders do not care one bit about their employees.

Yes I do feel undervalued

Leadership needs to start actually caring about their employees and not $$

A pay rate that allows employees to live in the resort towns. Vail Mountain's starting wage is less than a majority of the businesses in the surrounding valley, If not made apparent by the lack of staff for the 2020 season. A ski pass and housing are not enough incentive for the decrease in pay

Review from Operations Dept

Vail needs to improve its overall comp package to align with like-size local companies. They also need to add tuition reimbursement and increase their 401k match.

Vail admits that it pays at the 50th percentile. Paying market rates for advanced positions would help immensely.
