There isn't much culture and environment within the engineering department. Managers won't allow us to spend any money to get together with our teams and all company sponsored events have ceased to exist. Other departments such as sales enjoy getting together for trips and various events.
The company demoted a lot of senior engineers to meet company financial goals, not because of the engineers actual job level and skills. Management didn't give anyone a good reason for demotions and after the demotions the engineers still meet the requirements for the level they were demoted from.
- Engineering management is out of touch and more focused on increasing their stock bonuses than listening to senior engineers. - They speak in absolute terms saying if you don't agree with everything they say, then leave. There is zero open dialog and it feels like walking on pins and needles
