I've been here since I was an intern back in 2019. I think overall Calix is an excellent company and my experience has been full of successes but also some real lows, specifically when leadership lacks empathy it creates an incredibly toxic work environment for me.
Getting paid well and gaining respect from my peers.
I think communication, my coworkers are great people but sometimes they are not good communicators. I can also always improve my own communication.
People support each other at Calix. We are a team that understands our culture and taking care of our own is the top priority.
I love that when I become a mom that there is a lot of unlimited PTO and time off benefits. Working from home is the ultimate benefit.
I was able to speak with four different team leaders who I would be working with directly. This was great because it allowed me to really get a sense of the team I would be on.
My team is highly skilled in communicating which makes teamwork fast and efficient. We take the time to learn about each other's lives and check-in on how everyone is doing regularly so that nobody is left behind.
The friends that I make at work make me the happiest. Getting to connect with new people is also something that makes me happy. At Calix, we work cross-functionally with teams from each department which provides the opportunity to meet and connect with new people often.
My empathetic manager who works hard to shield me from the harsh criticism style of her manager (who use to also be my manager) she makes me feel safe and confident to be myself a work! She makes my whole day better and is also my close friend!
I love that leaders at Calix always take the time to give feedback. They take the time to get to know you and are always reaching out to show appreciation for a job well done. They're personable, motivating, and optimistic, which sets the tone for an incredible virtual workplace environment.
My manager is very empathetic and always considers me personally when making requests or giving feedback. She makes work a joy! I've had a few managers in my time here and I feel confident saying Calix won't find a better people leader than Liz Gulsvig. Scott Neuman is also awesome!!!!!
