I have worked for UT Health since 2016 and before that, had experience at another health science center. Overall, I love working for the state. Experiences may vary in different departments, but I find people here are genuine and nice. Work-life balance is easy to manage at a place like this.

They seem authentic and care about people

They are nice and genuinely want to help. I rarely have someone at UT Health who does not want to be helpful.

Free medical health insurance (if over 80% FTE), holidays, weekends, and lots of time off (more with years of service). Designated sick time that I can take when needed.

I love coming to work and using my skills to help the team, solve a puzzle, or create something valuable. I love getting to make authentic relationships with my colleagues.

We all want to do our best. Everyone is nice and is willing to help. Rarely are there issues or complaints, and if so, management listens and cares. They really want you to succeed. However, every department is different. Mine just happens to be fantastic. :)

You asked me "How would you rate your CEO?" Who is this? Chief Education Officer? Chief Executive Officer? Do you actually mean President Henrich? Or, perhaps you meant Andrea Marks? But she's the Chief Operating Officer. Our leadership team cares about people. People are the focus. Not just $$$.

I think we strive to help people more than we strive to be a money making machine. Money is the fuel that we need to improve our services, not the paycheck for some CEO. We care about patients and about students and about employees. We care about the community. It's truly about people.

I like what I do. I work with data and I enjoy it. I like exploring and analyzing it. I enjoy the puzzles I solve daily to do what I need to. Currently, my job is 100% work from home, which is amazing. I enjoy conversing with my coworkers and collaborating with them on projects.

You know you are making a difference. UT Health is doing tons of research (and their research is growing!). The healthcare side of UT Health is also rapidly growing. UT Health isn't about making $$ for some board of investors or CEO. $$ made are reinvested into UT Health so we can do more to help.

I am paid fairly now that I've moved positions. Before, I do not believe I was paid fairly and, in fact, when I started in 2016 (diff dept), I was one of the lowest paid employees with my title in the state of Texas. Health insurance is good. Work-life/balance. PTO improved. Access to 457 and 403.
