That we've known each other for years and all share a hatred for our jobs but push through and do our best each day. Whether is a good day or a bad day, we do our best for the day.
Giving a shit about their employees and actually listening to us. We're treated like children and like we don't know what's going to work for our store. Half these execs have never stepped foot in a store to actually WORK.
My immediate store team is wonderful, we all care for one another because it's a small town. I don't believe our district team is very unified and it is only because of the limitations Dollar General Corporations has been placing on its employees for DECADES.
Be straight up and honest with people. What you're told when you get hired here is nothing like how it actually is. That's why no one stays and the ones that do are there because they're scared to leave. I'm one of them, I would know.
I've never felt valued in this company due to what is expected of a few people. My store is open 7 days a week, 13 (sometimes more) hours a day. I am budgeted 123 labor hours to split between my 5 employees. Then my 48 hours. Try to make a mock schedule of that. I work 2 back to back shifts a week.
