The manager that hired me was pretty nice.
Overall I think people try to be nice and helpful with each other.
We get paid minimum wage but they have money to regularly give an associate who got people to sign up for store credit/debit cards. Money for in my opinion bribery (on a lotto basis) but not for the actual work.
Coworkers are different in different departments. The ones in mens, support, Backstage have been overall great. Some areas they are catty and don't let you do anything because "you'll put it away wrong". Girl how am I supposed to do it right if I never have a chance to do it.
I've been at Macy's for a while and I still don't know what their brand standards are for how the store is supposed to look. Knowing important things is pretty chaotic. But we spend more time on trying to get people to sign up for cards. Get (blank) amount of people to sign up and win a prize!
I wish my I had a role in the area that I do best (support-inventory, merchandising, markdowns, etc). That's what I applied for and what was advertised to me. But they told me after that they only had salesfloor. I needed to pay bills so I took it. Some things I'm really good at, some things I'm not
