Sure. This is very common in some industries such as software. Usually you are awarded options that vest as you continue to spend time at the company. My stock options began vesting every quarter beginning with my 1 year anniversary. This is not uncommon in my field.

That all depends on the person, some may not be able to stay focused/on task at home, others are I am sure much more productive working from home due to less distractions, problems or issues.
