Working at Alkami has been the most fulfilling career of my working life. I actively get engaging work and enjoy the work I do. I have been proud of all the things I have created and accomplished in my time with Alkami. The teams I have worked with are top notch and all amazing at what they do.
Briefly describe your overall experience at your company
I have enjoyed working at Alkami for quite some time, but I know that the non-engineering organizational aspects need some TLC of management changeover and need to restructure some of their practices and processes.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
I have health insurance, in this economy
What makes you most happy at work?
My team makes me happiest about my work.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
I really enjoy listening to Alex's talks, but I do wish he would spend more time telling the internal company about things before the external world at times
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
There have been positive leadership changes with the change in CTO, and we need to continue the positive nature of the restructuring that has been occurring in the engineering organization.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Tenure should not equal compensation for some of my coworkers, and while a meritocracy is historically a bad idea, we should still have some merit discussion. Additionally, we need better cross-team collaboration structures.
What are some of the best things about your team?
MY TEAM is an excellent team and we have mostly all worked together for several years now and really understand each other. We have good coding standards and practices, and care for each other.
What are some of the best things about your team?
The team I am on is absolutely one of the top performing dev teams in the company, and we aren't considered a dev team, but we have the fastest response to production incidents of any team
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Working at Alkami has definitely been one of the best choices of my career. I continually learn new perspectives on how to best run a business by being able to see through the eyes of our leadership team.
What are some of the best things about your team?
My team constantly challenges me to be the best version of me, either personally or professionally. As an engineer, this can be a challenge, as we all have some tendency to dig our heals in, and my team encourages each other to be aware of that.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Alkami is fine. But this question is invalid. Companies should not particularly have a cultural component other than ensuring they pay all their taxes, don't offshore profits into tax-havens, and by paying a higher wage than the minimum legally allowed. Those produce the best working environment.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I believe Alkami is a victim of the same trends that face all public companies when it comes to employee value and compensation. Employee care is rarely compatible with profits, per Wall Street demands. Better DEI and 4 days improve that care, amongst others, per studies.
