Big Lots Interviews Employee Reviews

What did you like most about the interview process?

One on one and tour of facilities

The company was very formative.

I showed up and the manager was quitting. He told me that I should apply at Amazon, like he did. I stayed at Big Lots for three years instead

Was told upfront about the fast paced work enviroment

The interview process was very simple but at that point I was highly qualified so I was a shoe in. I had already had 10 plus years of retail experience under my belt. But overall it wasn't too hard process I just filled out an application and turned it in.

Review from Customer Support Dept

Getting the job. The old manager was great. But know with Stan the environment is very negative. Again Longwood Florida store 32750

The interviewer was super friendly and kind.

Overall honesry and great questions.

Quick and easy. Fast onboarding.

Review from Sales Dept

The SM wanted to get to know me, not ask typical silly questions and I wasnt judged by my responses

When I interviewed it was an extremely positive experience as I got to meet with different leaders in have dynamic conversations about strategy however that was many years ago.

Manager was very friendly and honest

It was kind of mom amd pop like business model with the jnterview process

I was able to meet with the district manager

I honestly can say I liked my boss. He is such a good man, and he has done alot for my store for what he can at least. Managers are iffy alot though. He made me so comfortable and let me know on the spot I was hired seasonal, then he decided to keep me for good. I can say my boss is a mentor

I was hired on the spot

Review from Sales Dept

Talking with the manager doing the interview.

Its been a while it chsnged

They'll hire anybody, really. Especially with the labor shortage too! High turnover, however.

I really disliked the 2 interviews

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

Listen to the person being interviewed

In this store store manager

Actually communication with the store manager instead of a random email saying your interview is scheduled. Not enough time to prepare for Interviews.

They should look more into who theyre promoting and hiring

If they at least pretended like they cared you were there

The manager need to ask better questions

Review from Sales Dept

They don't really ask questions.

Review from Customer Support Dept

More in depth intellectual questions
