Q&A With Delta Air Lines Employees

Asked to the Operations Department at Delta Air Lines

  • I think it’s great, I have enough money to buy my own house in Seattle area as a single mom

  • The pay is what keeps you there.

  • Ready reserves need actual schedule flexibility and more than one unpaid week of vacation. Working five days a week with ONLY one unpaid week of vacation - whether you are a new ready reserve or have been ready reserve for thirty years, ONE unpaid week of vacation is not enough. Especially since the flexibility has been taken away from ready reserves that have to work five days a week.

  • Change top out time from 10.5 years to 8.

  • More diversity

Asked to the Operations Department at Delta Air Lines

  • It depends......Delta in Below Wing ACS, at ATL, as a man of color with no relations in the airline, require you to go beyond the norm. You have to do something mind blowing to move forward. Simply working hard and being able to do everything, as well as showing interest to move forward is not enough. It has a culture of Nepotism. It has a culture of Cronyism.

  • Productivity and quantity

  • They work you into the ground some days no breaks

  • Hours worked vary by station. Ready reserves are only allowed to work 1400hrs per year. Most likely you will also be working five days a week.

Asked to the Customer Support Department at Delta Air Lines

  • Decent

  • Most start off hired as a ready reserve, which is literally part time but delta doesn't want to call it that. A ready reserve will only get one, one year pay raise and go no further until a part time or full time spot opens. You also get ONLY one week of UNPAID vacation and a 3% contribution to a 401k. As a ready reserve you will also only get five, maybe six (I forget) holidays and you only get holiday pay if you work them. Ready reserve is the most ridiculous and un-American concept Delta has come up with. Working for Delta is great, if you're not a READY RESERVE.
