I would always be exhausted by the end of the day, and not in a good way. The demands are too high for the pay, as it is with most retail stores, and there's no sympathy for the mentally ill.
What did you like most about the interview process?
They asked questions about my previous employment experience to better gauge if I would be a good fit for the company.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Those who work on the floor are ready and able to perform their tasks efficiently, knowing that if they slack, everyone else suffers.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
$10.00 an hour is not nearly enough for the kind of work and situations we find ourselves involved in. From petty customers to misplaced items, we need far better payment.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Sales Associates are far more amicable than managers, and are more sympathetic to complaints. This should be equal, the managers should care just as much about employee experience as customer experience.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Allowing employees to talk to each other while working is important for morale, as well as connecting with their needs and desires. We are human beings just the same as you.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Standing for eight hours straight is entirely unecessary. Any cashier should be allowed to have a stool to sit on, and if the store is clean, sales associates should be allowed to relax without having to run themselves ragged looking for anything to do.
