So far, I am liking the challenging work environment and enjoying the work I am doing. I am new though so currently I am feeling a little overwhelmed.

I've worked at 3 other smaller colleges/universities and this is by far the best for compensation, work-life balance, and work culture. Other places say they're inclusive, but here we have leaders and employees at all levels of many identities and backgrounds.

As a Madison Area Technical College graduate myself, I am honored to be a full-time faculty member, and I have enjoyed my career here. However, over the last 5+ years, the culture towards faculty has changed, making it feel like we are "the problem" for budget issues. It is sad.

They are very supportive. They allow space to do your job without micromanaging, but accessible when you need help.

Our leaders are well qualified and experienced, but not pretentious or elitist (which is somewhat common in higher education). They often talk about how they worked up to their leadership positions and emphasize that other employees can also advance in their careers.

The health insurance and retirement benefits

Frankly, the salary is much higher than most places I've worked (3 other colleges/universities). I feel I'm finally appropriately compensated for the expertise I bring and the work that I do. Past jobs had better health insurance, but much lower salaries, and the health plans here are fine.

We are truly a team and support each other. We share the work and always willing to help or coach one another. For the most part, colleagues take full responsibility for their work - we don't push off work on to others. We can take sick days or vacation because we provide backup for each other.
