The company cannot compete with online sales and therefore should focus on what it claims to do best. Animal care standards must improve or PETA will have us close before Amazon inevitably does.
Store Leaders make 40K/year and are expected to work 60-70 hours a week. So more money would be nice. I would also be happier if the company actually put the animals first, not having to hold a bird in your arms while it dies, that would be the greatest compensation.
Animal care starts with animal lovers. Petco needs to hire animal lovers and give them the time to properly service the critters. It is so sad seeing animal habitats that have not been cleaned for days and animals without food or water because there is no time to do it :(
