PetSmart Interviews Employee Reviews

What did you like most about the interview process?

At least the person involved was nice can't say the same for all store leaders

I think the people had in mind the other shortcomings in the area and we're willing to accommodate

Review from Operations Dept

I was able to get an interview in person upon walking into the store versus having to apply online and wait to possibly receive Call back

Not going to do it

Its an average process to be hired

I think getting into a job working with animals should be harder. It was incredibly easy, and no single question was asked about animal care knowledge.

Assist manager was very open. I applied for grooming but they asked me about a petcare position that was available. I've been there ever since

The manager was nice and inviting

It did not really give me realistic expectations about the job training. Sitting and watching videos for a week is truly useless. People dont want to train you from scratch that just want to say they did and then publicly write you up and humiliate you by giving orders that break company rules

They asked me about my past experience between working and animals

Review from Sales Dept

The manager Santiago he's the best

It was extremely straightforward and a relaxing experience

It was a very personable, "authentic" interaction that left a very good first impression.

how Kaitlyn was so nice, funny and respectful

I liked the preparation the managers gave and the different options in the store. At first I applied to be in the hotel, my manager suggested I would have fun as a bather and they were right.

The interviewers were engaged and seemed to want the best for the company/position.

That it was with my old SL.

It was fast and easy

Review from Sales Dept

It was 10 years ago, and i worked with an amazing salon leader and store leader at the time.

I was lucky to be interviewed and hired quickly during what I learned later was a mass resignation

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

Make the interviews change because they do a bad job at telling people why they should work for us

They were desperate and hired me quickly. The turnover rate is so high they pretty much hire anyone who applies

Make sure theyre not telling lies about their scheduling.

Once again if you had leaders that cared about people there would not be so much turnover.

Hiring process is a joke, click through videos with no hands on training shown by leaders basically sets employees up to fail on purpose

Act questions from people where you know what type of person they are.

Review from Sales Dept

3 interviews and a drug test for 18 hours a week is excessive and pushes people away from working there.

Review from Sales Dept

There are plenty of things that need improved but mainly we need more workers
