Ive worked at red lobster for a few years and have seen a lot of changes between multiple CEOs and covid. They cut about half the management during covid and never rebuilt, so expect to not have help. No food runners, expos arent always there, and no bussers. Money is decent, but a lot of work.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Very few benefits. No PTO unless on management.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Advancement oppurtinities are good. I came in as host with no experience and worked up to takeout and then serving.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
We got a new CEO 8 months ago, and she already quit. Things arent going well. We are only truly busy when they push endless, but we dont have enough staff for endless. And endless is terrible for server wages
What are some of the best things about your team?
Fun front of house staff. However the kitchen is usually bad. Most of them are very inexperienced, and are awful at pushing tickets in a timely manner. They are usually understaffed, because upper level management expects them to be able to run with a skeleton crew almost always
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
My managers are good. I like them, but there isnt much they can do. Upper management keeps cutting corners and it shows. They cut bussers a few years back, so servers have to do all of their own bussing except for cups, which is the hosts job. CEO needs to stop overworking employees
