There's typical big company pay inequity. You are working and living on the beautiful mountain and your team is generally awesome. The minions struggle financially to live in a mountain town. It would be way more of a glamorous and full career if we were compensated a living wage.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
We all get excited about snow.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
They make millions up at the top and can easily afford to live in the mountains. We are three muscle and sweat behind the operation but need to go to a second job after a full day of teaching. Employee housing itself puts money back in the exec pockets.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Living in a mountain town is expensive. The hourly wage does not compare to the cost of living. 16 to $18 an hour for very physically challenging but fun work, and then paying $1,000 a month in employee housing right back to the employer, or paying $2,000 in rent in town is not sustainable.
