There are some excellent leaders and ICs. I love the work that I do but I'm extremely demoralized by the higher levels of leadership.
I am very happy with my decision to come to Barracuda. I do think that there are changes that are necessary for our long-term success that the C-suite/KKR are ignoring or missing and that if there isn't more bottom-up decision making/influence/power, the company will struggle in the long term.
There's a lot of communication built in/expected.
Leadership throughout the company is respectful.
Everyone is helpful and generally supportive.
I feel great when I create something useful for other people.
I'm happy with my salary and glad that I don't have to pay attention to a bonus structure.
Any time documentation I have put together is useful to a colleague, I am thrilled to my core.
The level of stress from the pressure to incorporate AI into everything, regardless of outcome or logic essentially should mean hazard pay.
Barracuda has a lot of smart, lovely, and talented hires in its midst and it is a shame that they are so misused.
Specific people and pockets of leadership within the company are fantastic. Barracuda has a lot of very talented and hard-working ICs who I have great respect for.
I can't speak for whole org but have a lot of respect and appreciation for my colleagues and I think that speaks to Barracuda making good hires.
Higher levels of leadership have lost the plot. The expertise and data that contradicts what upper levels "feel" should be done is simply ignored to the extreme detriment of morale.
Salary. Providing therapy access or meditation apps etc. externalizes the cost of capitalism on human minds and bodies and makes health in an uncaring economic system a matter of 'personal responsibility', instead of holding institutions and systems accountable.
Everyone on my team is smart and helpful. We also all care about quality over speed and our ability to really shine is held back only by the constant barrage of new priorities and lack of investment in headcount.
I really like the people I work with and consistently get help when I ask. I like that I have been given the freedom to look for and pursue activities that I think will support my colleagues and the product.
Leadership, particularly in PM, need to be held accountable for the outcomes of their decisions. A name needs to be attached to each change in direction and each expansion decision and metrics set by which to measure the success of that decision and the person driving it held fully accountable.
