For me I feel excited about work when I know I'm adding value to the company and when I being appreciated for the same.
I don't think I'm being valued for the work I put in. No appreciation in any form, be it hikes, promotions, or even a verbal one.
Simple and without any trick questions
Good opportunity to learn by doing and to see your accomplishments come to fruition if you're effective. Once I understood that expectations of knowledge didn't equal training to gain knowledge, it freed me from asking colleagues for help. There is some joy in completing daily self-assigned tasks.
The salary is pretty low compared to other SF companies
