Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility at Builders FirstSource

We recognize that the sustainability of our products and operations is important to the success of our company. Enabling homebuilders to become more productive and efficient is fundamental to what we do and is an integral part of our business strategy.

We continuously seek to identify, measure and map the corporate social responsibility (CSR) impacts of our business to deliver long-term value. To advance our vision of making home ownership more achievable for everyone while positioning Builders FirstSource as the most valuable partner in the industry, we know we must provide innovative and sustainable solutions for our customers. Our team members are dedicated to this goal, and we empower them to achieve it in a safe and inclusive workplace. We take pride in helping our customers build better, faster, safer, and greener. Our people are well trained and deeply knowledgeable about green building practices and products, and we offer a broad range of energy efficient and sustainable-certified products.

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact, including natural resource usage and emissions. For example, we do not utilize water in our key manufacturing processes, we use water-based paints which are more eco-friendly, and we have introduced electric forklifts and clean burning diesel delivery vehicles to reduce our carbon emissions.

From our involvement in charities to sustainable building, we’re committed to the greater good. BFS supports a variety of charitable organizations, and we also encourage our locations to support charitable organizations and local causes. We seek to create a meaningful difference in the lives of others and an enduring impact on the communities where we live and work.

More than a decade ago, we established an enduring partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Because all of us know someone or have been impacted directly by the devastation of blood cancer, we’re committed to transforming the lives of patients diagnosed each year.

The BFS Cares Program was created to help team members facing financial hardship immediately after a natural disaster or an unforeseen personal hardship. We provide a tax-free grant - of up to $3,000 - funded by the donations of individual team members and support from the company. Since 2017, more than 1,300 grants have been provided to those in need through donations totaling over $900,000.
