Burger King – They've made me work/operate/close my store alone many times before. I am only making 15.50 an hour, and they offer few if any benefits, the ones I get I have to absolutely pay for, the rest of the crew are under 18. I formerly was a metal worker, this is more difficult and more dangerous. | Comparably

What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?

It isn't their fault, the company employed 11 children and four adults as managers, I used to have adult co-workers but the new manager hired all kids, and when school started we've seen week after week of catastrophes.

What does the leadership team need to get better at?

Probably learning to appreciate and listen to their senior operators at stores; when you employ outside managers above existing ones and ones from outside the core company you end up with problematic structures; we've had inventory/retention problems for 2 months since she arrived.

What would you improve about your company's interview process?

They need to emphasize hiring people who can even do the basic essentials of the job and are willing to do those, that last part is key. They need transparency of their exploitative "I need you in all positions at this job" behavior.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

15.50 an hour when the Manager in question has shown the ability to single handedly operate the location and take the present profits from 1600 to 3650 by close, merits far better compensation and rewarding/handling than talking down to them and 15.50 an hour. Also, my dental/health should be free

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

The bringing in of outside managers and whimsical firing of essential workers when that person wants, leads to a unstable and volatile environment. A boss has to earn their workers' respect and be willing to put in work themselves, emphasizing and appreciating this will go a long way for them.
