Give the managers tools to do technical interviews. There's no budget to sign up for web sites that enable pre-screening technical questions or for the technical interview itself.
Making money. This company barely survives by not giving out raises, like, ever. I haven't had a raise in over five years, and neither has anybody else. That's not a way to run a company, especially when inflation is so high.
Since the company doesn't give raises and can't pay competitive salaries, they get the worst people possible. Management is completely incompetent, and all the good people have quit by now. Their attitude is, if you haven't quit yet, then obviously you're willing to work for what we're paying you.
Our customers hate us because nobody knows what they're doing. I can't believe we even have customers. The managers are build products nobody wants. Software companies run on the quality of the people creating it, and good luck with that. Many projects never ship because of the programmers are bad.
Nobody is getting any raises, except maybe the executives. They cut corners wherever they can, like cutting the 401k match and having a $4k high deductible health care plan. That means you pay every paycheck for health care, but don't see a dime in return until you're $4k out of pocket.
Good people need to be rewarded, dead wood and incompetent people need to be fired. I've never once seen anybody fired at this company. That's not great. You have to trim the fat, and then pay competitive salaries to get the best people possible. Right now, it's just wall to wall incompetence.
