What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

We never have enough hours to properly staff the store and the customers are very vocal about it. When we are busy and there are only 4 or 5 associates to cover 6 departments not including footwear, customers walk out or start complaining.

What needs to change to make the company culture better?

Appreciating those of us lower on the totem pole. Upper management doesn't understand that trying to run on a skeleton crew constantly destroys morale. "Do more with less", and "just get it done" is the attitude when it comes to RVP, DM, and store managers, even without resources to do so.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

Being paid for 40 hours and HAVING to work at least 55 hours a week, sometimes up to 65 hours without so much as a thank you is very frustrating. We always have to try and do more with less, and it's nearing on impossible. In trying to save money they are destroying moral.
