Still a very good company, although it feels like it's slowly losing it soul and gravitate toward a less fun, more "traditional" business model...
What did you like most about the interview process?
Felt fair, interviewers were friendly and very competent
What makes you most happy at work?
Good peers and very good manager, freedom to self organize and contribute with my own perspective
What are some of the best things about your team?
Smart and modest people. It's possible to entertain interesting discussions and disagree constructively. Mutual respect and friendly environment
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
In spite of the size, there still is some space for ideas and active contributions beyond completing a list of tasks. Friendly and respectful environment, especially with tech people. Where there are rules and guidelines, it's usually possible to see a reasonable reason for them!
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Mi direct and near leadership is excellent, and one of the best things about working here. All managers have been strong engineers in their career, and it shows.. High management is still very good, but perhaps not as enlightened as I'd hope. HR is just acceptable, doesn't seem to care much.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Google is a for profit multinational, one of the better ones imo, but still they investment in the employees is tiny compared to the revenues, and the hype about "caring" for employees feels hypocritical when you do the math, and see choices feeling like trying to look generous while saving on staff
