I've loved working at JoAnn's on the whole and I've loved the majority of my coworkers and customers, but having to stay open during the lockdown period of a pandemic was uncomfortable and terrifying to me as an employee with autoimmune issues also living with a nurse that works with the elderly.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
They're actually good about regularly checking up on me to make sure I'm doing okay, reminding me to get paperwork done, etc! It's nice that they follow up without being nagging about it.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
The employee discount can be used on basically anything in store, which is soooo helpful when making big purchases or even for small things like grabbing a drink from the queue because you forgot one at home and you're thirsty on break.
What makes you most happy at work?
Being able to help someone find just the right fabric they need for a project or meeting a baby sewer and helping them get into the hobby in a way they're not as likely to regret (i.e. convincing them to start with cotton rather than faux fur for their first ever pillowcase).
