Love the customers but we are overworked. We have the cheapest gas and are busy in a smaller than small store with no help but are still expected to complete a list. You're never praised for your treatment of the customers but God forbid you forget an item on that list. They need more overlap shifts
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Proper training would help. She was promoted from shift lead to SM but never received training. I have been in convenience retail since 1995 and I have never witnessed such behavior. It makes for an uncomfortable environment for us all.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
I am good at my job, but am overwhelmed when as I'm helping my customers, all I'm thinking about is that list that I was too busy to get to. Managers need to consider this and not assume we are all lazy. Overlapping shifts by at least 30 minutes helps to get things done.
