Technology is growing. There haven’t been layoffs that I know of.

What's the vibe like in the Operations dept at Nordstrom? How many hours are you working?
When they need you they schedule you 40 hours and it doesn't matter your availability. When it's slow, you can get as low as 10-20 hours a week.

Poor. They are not competitive at all. Sales has tons of ways to win or make more money. Especially when they are busy, but operations gets nothing for their extra work during busy times.

What's the pay like for Customer Support roles at Nordstrom?
It's okay. We've seen some pay increases, but they are usually paired with cuts to benefits or cost of living increasing, so overall I am getting about what I did when I started a decade ago.

What's the vibe like in the Customer Support dept at Nordstrom? How many hours are you working?
There is a lot of stress and frustration. Hours vary due to how busy we are. Mandatory overtime during the busiest seasons, hours being cut or strongly pushed voluntary unpaid time off when slow.

Everyone is focused on their stats and not really working together or focused on helping the customer or following procedure if it affects their stats.

depends on the store and store manager
I work between 35 to 40 hours a week. The vibe in my department is kill or be killed.
What do you look for in a new hire? is it hard to recruit someone good?
Lately it has been difficult. Everyone wants money but no one wants to actually work for it.
we have alot of turnover due to not hiring the right individuals for out team

She doesn't do much to handle anything. She basically manages numbers, not people.
they prefer to avoid it, drama is not their thing. HR also doesn't want to be bothered

people who have a way with words and can pep talk anyone into a conversation

Nice people to work with.
What are the differences between maternity and paternity leave at Nordstrom?
I believe both get bonding time, but maternity leave may also include some additional medical time off.
What's the internship program like at Nordstrom?
It is awesome. They train you on all aspects of the full line stores, and will hire you for management track upon completion.
What is the best perk or benefit that Nordstrom offers?
At this time there is no perk or benefit. They are hiring for seasonal but I am a full time employee and have been flexed off for almost the last two weeks and before that. I gave only worked two days in the last two weeks. That's right 16 hours. So if you're looking for a future with a company, Nordstrom is not the one!! Good luck in your search other places.

It varies. Some leaders should probably not be here and others do a great job.
