It obviously changes with the times and management, but it's pretty good if you can get into a new department, managerial track and/or have a patron that advances you in the company. It pays less than competitors, but offers a bit more stability and unique benefits to somewhat compensate for it.
What are some of the best things about your team?
For those who are engaged and passionate, that they are willing to try and learn new things. There's a great deal of resistance to change/growth/new skill development/figuring things out for yourself amongst a lot of longtime employees.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Working in a position that allows me to leverages my strengths and skills, and also allows me to to grow in my career. These things are often at odds and I can't find a way to resolve it.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Generosity. This really shines through in almost every aspect of our culture and environment at work (the only exception being salary compared to competitors). I love the unexpected recognition, gifts, bonuses, and kind words from all levels of management and our leadership team.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Their positivity for sure. Also, more importantly, their demonstrating willingness and vulnerability in admitting they need to grow and modernize their values and understanding of the world and its peoples. Our culture is still quite dated, but it's made significant strides this past year.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
A way outside of annual merit increases to grow as a "professional" employee. We had this a few years ago, but its totally died. If there was an equivalent to Mgr/Dir/VP for employees, with clear outlines, it would help us feel like there's a way to advance without having to go the "manager route."
