PetSmart Outlook Employee Reviews

What makes you most happy at work?

To be able to be confident during the best and it adds also to be sober

Review from Operations Dept

Being Treated fairly makes me most happy

solving problems and creating new solutions

I love interacting with the animals, and value my colleagues.

The animals of course. They are a breath of fresh air.

Interacting with my coworkers. Perks such as being allowed to bring my dog to work with me.

It's the dogs for sure

Seeing the animals and my coworkers

coworkers, customers and animals. I'm a people person, super driven and just wanted to succeed

Working with and satisfying customers.

All of the animals I work with

Interacting with customers, coworkers, and animals.

I love interacting with the dogs.

Review from Sales Dept

Being able to connect and build relationships with customers and provide them with exceptional service.

Review from Sales Dept

The regulars that come in, especially if their dog is anxious and feels comfortable with you. There is no better feeling than earning the trust of a dog. My coworkers are incredible and even when the store manager disagrees with us, my salon manager has my back.

When a pet parent asks me a grooming or fish related question. I work in the salon and as a cashier I have alot of experience working with all kinds of aquarium life and I enjoy giving the best advice i can so their pet can live comfortably and happy.

That we are helping pets and pet parents across the US and CAN.

Seeing the animals each dsy

Review from Sales Dept

When the customets tell me I deserve better

Caring for the animals, interacting with customers, helping people gain new knowledge and add to their family with our pets

What's going wrong and how can it be improved?

Needs to focus less on profits and more on the people who work for them and the pets they have instore.

We do not even have information or access to get information on OUR OWN BRANDS. Which is quite frankly - absurd. Give Agents more ability in the systems and it will be easier to reach a first contact resolution for the customer. Improving the website and systems will also lower inbound contacts.

Review from Customer Support Dept

Actually write people up so they can discover actions have consequences

Im constantly being told i either have to go to grooming school or i can quit. I've been told by coworkers that im one of the best bathers they've had. Why would they push me to the point where i would quit? I just dont see myself as a groomer. I love being a bather and wantbto keep it that way.

There’s a lot that can be addressed to improve the culture. I think actually investing in the budget for travel and learning opportunities would go a long way to build back trust about career development at the company.

Never enough hours to do anything, unrealistic expectation of project completions because of that. Stop being cheap and give stores enough hours to schedule people to complete things In a timely manner

Kinda a lot going wrong, my dudes.

Your Regional and District leaders are tyrants. They are always trying to top each other and roll over the other leaders. They don't give a hoot about us, but they believe that taking constant pictures and posting us pretend to smile for Twitter or Instagram shows they care - it does not.

Our salon manager is horrible. Shes a manipulator, she bullies us workers every day shes here. She makes us do stupid and silly things. Pushes us to do extra dogs when we dont feel comfortable grooming more due to not be safe.

In my store, the SL does things her way and has zero concern for the safety or wellbeing of her staff. She looks for minute reasons to get rid of people and makes the rest of the staff feel extremely uncomfortable and unappreciated.

Vendors sending unhealthy animals. Don't work with those vendors. Enclosures too small for the animals we sell. Create adequate enclosures. Fish bowls should not be sold, period

Have people who care working there

We need janitorial help, more staff, supplies for our business

Customers can see the store moral greatly decreasing as most of the team has just up and left without even putting in their two weeks. Because all of them are overworked, underpaid, and are working for management who abuses them.

Unfair pay and poor management. Managers often treat part time workers poorly and part time workers are very over worker. Managers do not help with daily tasks and cause more stress. Pet care workers do so much and have to learn a crazy amount to only be paid minimum wage.

Favoritism, drama, being treated like dirt

The drive and enthusiasm. No one seems to care and it shows. No one wants to work as a team to get things done effectively.

Corporations need to stop caring so much about money and care more about their employees happiness. Happy employees makes a better work environment.

Managers disrespect is what’s wrong towards customers and their employers as well so much can be improved that I will not have the ability to name them all in this small amount of characters I’m limited

Management isn't held accountable for mistreatment of workers.
