There is much opportunity for a work/life balance. Any "corporate" positions in our company are only located in Quincy. There are no satellite offices in which we can perform these tasks which limits the talent who can apply for these jobs.
The pay and benefits are sufficient. We should adjust the ASM incentive program because there are ASM's who pretty much run the store and are just as responsible for its success as a Store Manager.
I feel that we could make more money for the amount of work that we put in. We work in a highly stressful environment, not only with customers but with all of the audits and possibilities of failure.
The training program for exempt managers is terrible. The program is solely focused on their specific areas and not the entire store. ASM's are responsible for the entire store when the Store Manager is not at work but they have no training in those departments at all.
We focus on the wrong things. We focus more on being inclusive and diverse (which is important) than taking care of our customers. We say that the customer matters but we constantly hear complaints about not having product or pricing and do nothing to combat that issue.
The environment that our company creates is not positive. We fear different audits every day and we fear that one thing will fail us on an audit. We are too focused on the possible audits and that takes away from doing our primary job of selling groceries.
We are more worried about the audit process than taking care of our customers. We do not provide the products that customers are looking for and we continue to have supply chain issues that are not addressed causing customers to shop elsewhere because other companies can get product that we cannot.
The stress levels in our company are too much. We fear multiple audits every day. We focus on passing those audits which takes away from our primary job of selling groceries. Audits are inevitable but I think we need to focus more on our primary job. There is also NO ROOM FOR ADVANCEMENT!
I think our training program for exempts is terrible. We have many new exempts and they are not knowledgeable at all. They want to learn, and much of it is done in the weeds, but the program only focuses on their specific areas but not the entire store. This makes it stressful for everyone else.
I feel that there is no room for advancement in our company. When applying for any "corporate" positions I have been told that I need to travel to Quincy in order to fill the role. I live 2 1/2-3 hours away and cannot travel there weekly but am fully capable of performing in one of these positions
We are too focused on the social matters of the country and not as focused on selling groceries. There are other supermarket chains who are hands down better at that then we are. We need to shift our focus off of the social issues and focus on running an unbiased business. We want to be the best!
