Waste Connections has intentionally set up their business model to be separately categorized - not having many parts of the business that directly speak to one another. This is a great way to limit employees' abilities to advance and not know about opportunities within the company.

That most of the folks I have spoken with are pleasant and easy to get along with.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Knowing that what we do is all about garbage - not taking ourselves too seriously knowing that our roles are all about solid waste.
What makes you most happy at work?
Knowing that my specific role has widespread impacts on my local community and hearing from community members how important my role is for them.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Cooperation between schedules. Acknowledgement that we are all human and can be both professional and fun at the same time. Having each others backs in challenging situations.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Having pay parity between all genders in similar roles. Making sure that ALL benefits are clearly outlined upon hiring and highlighted regularly for folks to be able to utilize them. Pay transparency for all jobs - knowing what others make to be sure each worker is being paid appropriately.
