my job is fine, but the engineering org is so messy that it's frustrating to deal with a lot of the time. the company itself is fine to work for, but they do keep demonstrating that they don't actually care about us as employees re: benefits and compensation

Commit to giving all employees annual wage increases that at least match cost-of-living increases. Between reduced/more expensive benefits and low annual "merit" increases, many employees effectively take a pay cut to stay here every year.
