Only been here a little over a year. Comparing it to my previous job, there are different positives and negatives to each. Overall I'd say this job/career is better than the previous, although I do miss my immediate coworkers at my previous job, Related to them more personally, due to age, etc.
Briefly describe your overall experience at your company
Lamar is solid place to work if you have a high need for work/life balance, and are 30+. And like or are good at sales. If you're a fresh college graduate I would recommend looking elsewhere when first stepping into the adult workforce. Lamar has very little training and mentorship.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Diverse range of personalities. It's a small office so everyone knows everyone.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Local office's work/life balance is accommodating. Management is very hands off, virtually zero micromanagement.
What makes you most happy at work?
Going home for the weekend after an well accomplished week. Get the satisfaction of the weekend and feeling like you did a good job.
What do your coworkers need to improve and how could you work together better?
Work together perfectly fine, so long as we aren't stepping on each others toes. With that said, none of them are people I see myself hanging out with outside of work.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
Local office is very accommodating to work-life balance when things bubble up on short notice. The recently expanded holiday package is much better than most local/regional businesses would offer in my area.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Being in the midwest, coworkers are as such "midwest nice." Work-life balance at local office is very accommodating, able to take time off on short notice if the need arises. The work requires you to be relatively self-sufficient.
What makes you most happy at work?
A day where I go home fulfilled. To elaborate, a steady day where you feel like you accomplished a good amount of work. The kind of day that when you look at the time, you're surprised how fast it had gone by.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Benefits are great. Local office is very accommodating when it comes to work/life balance. With that said, company values sales very highly. If you aren't selling, you're pay is going to suffer. Hourly/salary pay for clerical/office/ops positions is average at best. (entry/junior level perspective)
