I started at SWCA 7 years ago and while I liked aspects of the work and culture, I didn't think I'd stay here long term. But every year the culture and company has gotten better - and I have grown as an employee and manager, too. Now I have a hard time imagining finding a better workplace.
What makes you most happy at work?
The opportunity to do good work that helps our planet and communities.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
When I went to graduate school, SWCA helped out with financing my degree and also was very understanding when I had to drop to half-time for three years. They were extremely accommodating and supportive.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
I appreciate the vision our CEO is working towards in our North Star, particularly about becoming an industry leader in sustainability. And my local office leadership is just top notch - smart, hard working, caring and fun.
What are some of the best things about your team?
I know that I can turn to anyone on my team at any level for help or extra hands on a project, and they step up swiftly. Everyone is very communicative. No one is trying to outshine anyone - there is no sense of competition, just camaraderie.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
I think any company can work "lean" and be highly communicative and collaborative. But the real magic at SWCA is the people power: recognizing our humanity (changing from a focus on "sick time" to "wellness time"), striving to avoid burnout, caring for and cheering on your colleagues.
