What do you like best about the leadership team?
They treat me like a human with skills and a life and they do not act like I am just a "replaceable employee," like previous employers have in my past.

The down-to-Earth casual relationships with the employees. It's uncomfortable to have leaders act stuffy and above the rest of the employees, so having them get down to our level and be able to speak casually is really important for the working environment.

The need to start compensating employees properly

Ambry does not keep up with the standard of living in Orange County. On many occasions people have asked for raises to keep up with the basic cost of living and they aren't set into motion with the promise of "next time." Yet the workload significantly increases with no reward.

What is the best part about your compensation package?
Flexible Time Off was a wonderful implementation. I don't have to worry about capping my hours and being forced to use them when I don't want to! Although I do not take advantage of the perks like ClassPass, I appreciate that things like that are offered.

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
It is no secret that Ambry Genetics underpays. Typically, when browsing open positions, I will look at the county average salary and assume I will receive 15-20% less at Ambry. I am also a bit disappointed that we must now pay $15 for Club Ren. It is still very cheap, but free membership was nicer.

There is little accountability. There are few of us able to complete more complicated tasks in my department; yet we are all compensated equaly. There is very little upward mobility and our leadership is either absent or overwhelmed constantly.

I work a typical 50% more than the productivity value goals. At the end of each pay period, I have other deductions that take over 30% of my paycheck and leaves me with just enough for rent and food for the month. With the wage I have, it is a barely making it minimum and it is frustrating.

This is not just a problem with Ambry Genetics, it is a problem with the US economy all together. Employees are not compensated a livable wage for the areas they live in. People must seek out roommates to afford a small apartment to share, or must have multiple incomes to afford a house.

What are some of the best things about your team?
Everyone is down to Earth and great to work with. Very little drama and focus is about helping our patients.

Most everyone is friendly and the culture is very relaxed. Everyone is allowed to show their own personalities and not feel they will be ridiculed for their likes/dislikes.

My team is willing to pick up slack when someone is absent. Coworkers will help fill you in if there are changes. We bounce ideas off each other.

People seem to genuinely care about each other and are professional. Almost everyone seems to work hard at what they do and are reliable. They make concerted efforts to not talk poorly about other employees, even during reviews. There is an element of respect for all, and it is encouraged throughout

the people/honest and crystal clear

It was fast and easy! I was contacted by someone in my department (this was before we had recruitment processes in place) for a screening call, shortly after I was invited to an onsite interview with 3 people. The day after, I received a call to offer me the job.

What makes you most happy at work?
The ability to dive into my work without interruptions (remote employee) and I can work for several hours without concern of breaking my focus. I love the impact that I make in patients lives by helping to give answers that may not have been there, before.

I am not excited to look forward to making new changes every day to new directives. It makes it hard to keep up and makes it difficult to not make a ton of mistakes everyday and consequences are, I get marked down every month for QA

Leadership sets very high expectations, asks for a lot from their middle managers, but does very little to recognize and celebrate accomplishments. Pay transparency and equity needs to improve, individual accomplishments should be congratulated.
