Friendliness and collaboration. Each employee really strives to meet the values of ArcBest, with collaboration being my favorite. Each employee also is super friendly to discuss and network with, regardless of different backgrounds and positions.
Student workers are underpaid. With the AR minimum wage $11 and student workers starting out at $11.25, it does play a factor in our "importance". We do a lot of the same tasks as FT employees, which makes me (and the other SW's I've compared to) feel undervalued.
Learning about the company! I've interviewed at least 6 different times (landing my first interview and now searching for an upper level position). Despite being turned down, I take each interview as a practice round and still love to learn how each department connects as a whole to the business.
It is always a red flag when a company says, "Our team is like a family!". Not once was I told this during the interviewing process which excited me about this position (no sugar coating the work environment). Since beginning, I've learned it IS like a family. We all lean on each other!
They encourage growth and change! If given an opportunity that excites me, I know I can bring it up to my leadership team and they will help me through networking to make sure I can land that position. I know I won't be "stuck" in the same position, there is always room for growth!
By far, the coworkers! If I'm ever too stressed, as long as I am open and honest with my supervisor and coworkers, they are right beside me to help where needed. Whether it be an afternoon off to take care of personal matters or a helping hand in a time-sensitive project, they are right there.
